TANAH JAMBU, Friday, 03 May 2019 –This morning, the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces had an invited guest speaker to hold a religious talk at the
Asy Syuhada Surau. As the holy month of Ramadan is drawing nearer, the talk, which carried the title 'Jambatan Menuju ke Syurga' or The Bridge to Paradise, delivered by Ustaz Abdussalam bin Hj Johari highlighted that fasting in the holy month of Ramadan brings nothing but limitless benefits for the Muslims.
Fasting is not just about abstaining from food, drink and intimate intercourse but also refraining our ears, eyes, tongue, hand and feet from committing sinful acts and as a whole, avoiding all that is prohibited by Allah SWT. Ustaz Abdussalam also emphasized that it should be the desire of every Muslim to embrace and treat Ramadan as a precious opportunity to increase good deeds and perform as many religious practices as they can in order to gain endless blessings and countless rewards from Allah SWT. In the long term, attain a place in the paradise in the hereafter. This is because Ramadan is the month where Allah SWT multiplies the rewards of good deeds by His grace.
It is also in the month of Ramadan where Muslims are highly encouraged to enliven this holy month by observing the night of Qiyam-ul-layl. This night produces blessings and rewards for any muslims who are willing to sacrifice their sleeps just to stand and pray for Him. In addition, he also pointed out that it should be the main aim of the Muslim ummah to instill as many noble values as possible when fasting in the upcoming month of Ramadan and that we are highly encouraged to repent sincerely and seek mercy from Allah SWT.
