TANAH JAMBU, Friday 10 May 2019 – Ms Alina bte Abang Haji Omarzuki, Head of Strategy Management, Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) today delivered a talk on “Strategic Management in the Ministry of Defence” to the 9th Command and Staff Course (CSC 9) at the Defence Academy of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

In her lecture, Ms Alina shared on the overview of Ministry of Defence and the role of the Office of the Strategic Management (OSM) and how it supports Brunei Wawasan 2035. She also highlighted the importance of one of the goals from the Wawasan which is “high quality of life” which upholds the sovereignty and stability of the nation.
She also also explained the I.K.WON.D.A.MA.I, an acronym declared during the 14th Legislative Council that encapsulates the seven key result areas, which are still pertinent to this day. These seven result areas are built upon the three strategic defence pillars which were also outlined extensively by the Second Minister of Defence: Deterrence and Response, Defence Diplomacy and Holistic Defence. Lastly she emphasised on the on-going challenges of sustaining the strategic management culture.
Towards the end of her presentation, Major (U) Pg Mohd Khairum bin Pg Hj Sulaiman, the representative student from the CSC 9 conveyed a deep appreciation and gratitude to Ms Alina for sparing her valuable time and for delivering a delightful presentation. Ms Alina received a memento presented by the CSC Directing Staff 2, Lieutenant Colonel Shahromey bin Bakri on behalf of the Commandant of Defence Academy.
