TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 13 February 2020 – Colonel Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, the Commandant of the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (Comdt of DA RBAF), delivered a lecture today entitled “Peace and Security - Lessons from Brunei Darussalam” to the 10th Command and Staff Course (CSC 10) as part of their Foundation Studies Module.
The Comdt of DA RBAF started the lecture with an in-depth insight into the cultural, political and legal framework of Brunei Darussalam and how it relates to national peace and security. This was then followed by a brief outline of the range of threats facing the country, with particular focus on the issue of radicalisation. In order to successfully tackle this issue, the Comdt DA RBAF emphasises the criticality of standardisation and legitimation of Islamic education and teachings to avoid radicalisation. The informative and thought provoking lecture then concluded with a question and answer session from the CSC participants.
Following the lecture, Squadron Leader Jirasak Chana, a course participant from the Royal Thai Armed Forces, conveyed the cohort’s deepest appreciation and gratitude to the Comdt DA RBAF for taking his valuable time in conducting the insightful lecture. This was then followed by a presentation of a course memento to the Comdt of DA RBAF from Squadron Leader Matthew Xerri, a course participant from the Australian Defence Force on behalf of the course.
