TANAH JAMBU, Wednesday, 11 June 2025 – The Defence Academy of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF) today welcomed a delegation from the National Defence University of the People’s Liberation Army (NDU PLA), who are currently in Brunei Darussalam as part of their study tour. The 44 members delegation was led by Major General Li Yanhua, Political Commissar of Military Management College at NDU PLA.
The visit began with a Courtesy Call with the Acting Commandant of DA RBAF. During the meeting, the Acting Commandant extended a warm welcome to Major General Li Yinhua and his delegation, expressing appreciation for their visit and emphasizing its significance in strengthening bilateral defence ties between the two institutions.
Following the Courtesy Call, the delegation attended a series of briefings delivered by Dayang Amalina binti Hj Awang Tengah, Acting Senior Special Duties Officer from the Wawasan Brunei Office, Prime Minister’s Office and Lieutenant Commander Qurratuáini Qayyimah Dr. Haj Al-Zelzy, RBN, Academic Advisor from DA RBAF. These briefings provided an overview on Brunei’s Wawasan 2035 as well the organisational structure of DA RBAF, including insights into the Academy’s Professional Military Education Policy and Framework.
The session continued with an engaging and thoughtful question-and-answer segment, fostering open discussions on the enduring defence relationship between Brunei and People’s Republic of China. Topics included the inaugural Joint Defence Working Committee convened in 2023, Brunei’s ongoing commitment to diplomacy, and the critical role of military education in addressing the challenges of today’s complex security environment.
The visit concluded with a luncheon hosted at the Ceremonial Hall, marking a successful engagement between DA RBAF and NDU PLA. The delegation’s four-day visit to Brunei includes educational focused programme including visit to University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and cultural visits, providing a comprehensive understanding of Brunei’s landscape and heritage.
