Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof joined the Royal Brunei Armed Forces in June 1993 and was commissioned in 1995 after completing his officer training at Officer Cadet School, Waiouru, in the New Zealand. Upon his returned, he was promoted to Second Lieutenant where he served as an Infantry Platoon Commander at the 3rd Battalion Royal Brunei Land Forces.
He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in 2013 and was the Commanding Officer of Officer Cadet School of Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces from 2013 until 2015. He held several key appointments including as Chief Instructor and the Deputy Commandant of Training Institute of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. He also held the Staff Officer of Joint Warfare, Joint Doctrine and Warfare Centre, Joint Force Headquarters from 2018 until 2019. He was then promoted to Colonel in May 2021 and became the Head of Joint Doctrine and Warfare Centre. In August 2021, Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof was assigned as the Co-Chairman of the National Covid-19 Coordination Centre Covid-19 before appointed as the Commandant of Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces on 2nd January 2022.
In the fields of training and education, Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin has attended numerous courses from overseas such as Platoon Commander Course, Pulada in Malaysia, Advanced Mortar Course, Offensive Support Division in Australia, Mortar Platoon Commander Course, Mortar Division, Warminster United Kingdom, Intermediate Staff Course (ISC) at the Australian Land Warfare Centre, Company Commander Course, Pulada, Johor Malaysia, and Combined Arms Tactics Course, Land Warfare Centre, Warminster, United Kingdom.
Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin attended his Command & Staff Course (CSC) at Goh Keng Swee Command & Staff College Singapore 2011, RBAF Executive programme (EDP) in 2015 and later attended Standford-NUS Executive program in International Management in August 2022.
In 2006, Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof was awarded the Most Honourable Order of the Crown of Brunei, Third Class (SMB) from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Long Service and Good Conduct Medal Royal Brunei Armed Forces in 2013.
Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof is married and blessed with five children. During his free time, he enjoys reading, outdoor activities and golfing for leisure.
