TANAH JAMBU, Wednesday, 12 December 2018 – The Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF) held a handover ceremony for its new Commandant here at the Auditorium DA RBAF, Kampung Tanah Jambu.
Colonel Saiful-Akhmar bin Hj Mohd Shariff handed over the appointment as Commandant DA RBAF to his successor, Colonel Hj Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, who was previously the Commandant of the Training Institute Royal Brunei Armed Forces (TI RBAF).
The ceremony commenced with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and verse from the Quran by 52525 OCdt Muhd Hidayatullah Sunazul Fikar bin Suip from Officer Cadet School of Intake 17. At the ceremony, the retiring Commandant delivered his farewell speech in which he acknowledged the hard work and dedication of all the Defence Academy personnel and civilian staff in performing their duties towards the excellence of the institution. He also thanked all of them for their support throughout his time in the Defence Academy.
The ceremony continued with the signing of the handover certificate between Colonel Saiful-Akhmar bin Hj Mohd Shariff and Colonel Hj Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan followed by a speech by the new Commandant. In his speech, he thanked the former commandant for his excellent leadership as the Commandant of the Defence Academy. He also emphasized the importance of sincerity and genuineness as educators in the Defence Academy who are responsible in educating and developing the next generation of military officers in the RBAF. Also mentioned in his speech were the importance of getting the right basic learning into practical as well as expressing leadership values in education and training, particularly in the Defence Academy.
Present at the ceremony were senior officers, officers, officer cadets, military personnel as well as civilian members of the Defence Academy. The ceremony in the auditorium ended with the recitation of the Doa by Sergeant Hj Md Yusry bin Hj Awg Yusof to bless the event.
The ceremony, then proceed to the Ceremonial Hall for refreshments followed by a group photo session. To end the ceremony, all of the military personnel and officer cadets lined up along the roads, while the former Commandant was ushered towards his residence in the vicinity of the camp by the Deputy Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel Suriyati binti Hj Junaidi and the rest of the officers.
