AUSTRALIA, Monday, 02 December 2024 - The OBOE Endeavour Academic Excellence Programme that was held from 01 December to 05 December 2024 began with a visit to HMAS Waterhen in Sydney, the Royal Australian Navy’s primary mine warfare base. The participants were welcomed by the Commanding Officer of HMAS Waterhen and was then given a brief about the organisation, and plans to enhance mine countermeasures (MCM) with advanced autonomous systems, improving safety and effectiveness. The tour highlighted cutting-edge diving equipment and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), showcasing HMAS Waterhen’s key role in housing state-of-the-art MCM technology.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - Friday, 11 October 2024 - The Honourable Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (R) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II, led a brisk walk with the graduates of the Command and Staff Course (CSC) 14. The walk began from Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque, Kampung Tamoi to Damuan Recreational Park. Joining the Honourable Pehin on this journey were Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence as well as the Commandant and senior officers of the Defence Academy RBAF.

TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 10 October 2024 - The 14th Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Command and Staff Course (CSC) concluded today with a Closing Ceremony attended by key dignitaries, including The Honourable Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II as the Guest of Honour. The CSC, which involved a total of 37 course participants, aimed to enhance participants' understanding of defence and security through a blend of academic and operational planning modules. The guest of honour highlighted the importance of defence diplomacy in today’s complex global landscape and stressed the role of education in nurturing future leaders equipped with critical thinking and decision-making skills.

The session titled, "Strategic Leadership and Decision-Making in Complex Environments" highlighted the importance of values-driven leadership and how core values play a crucial role in making effective decisions in challenging situations. He shared personal experiences and strategic insights, inspiring the cohort to adopt a mindset focused on long-term growth and resilience to be better prepared for the future.

Friday, 28 Jul 2023 – The Command and Staff Course Delegation visited High Commission of Brunei Darussalam in Canberra, Australia. The delegation was welcomed and engaged by His Excellency Garry Ramlee bin Haji Ibrahim. During the visit, the delegation had the privilege of engaging in fruitful discussions with His Excellency Garry Ramlee, who graciously shared his insights about Brunei-Australia relation and partnership in terms of trade, security and education. Friday, 28 Jul 2023 - The Command and Staff Course Delegation spent their final day in Canberra visiting the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The delegation was hosted by the Assistant Secretary, Southeast Asia Maritime Branch, Mr Hugh Robilliard along with key representatives from DFAT, a renowned institution responsible for shaping and executing Australia's foreign policy and promoting its national interests on the global stage. This visit provided an invaluable opportunity for the delegation to gain insights into the multifaceted work carried out by DFAT and to foster meaningful exchanges and discussion on AUKUS, South China Sea, maritime security and Australia effort to maintain peace, stability and security in the Indo-Pacific region.

The delegation had round-table discussions with officers from the Strategic Policy Division and the International Policy Division, including the Head of Military Strategic Commitments Division, Air Vice Marshal Stephen Chappell, and the Assistant Secretary South-East Asia, Mr. David Lewis.

opportunity to celebrate Brunei's 39th National Day. The day before the
event, Brunei National Anthem was played at the CSC lecture room
followed by sharing from local course participant, Major (U) Muhammad
Nur Aidi bin Haji Abdul Razak on the significance and facts of Brunei
National Day. Brunei declared independence on 1st January 1984 and the
date for National Day was set as 23 February 1984. |

JAMBU, Monday, 10 August 2020 – Mr. Tony Serna, the Military Information
Support Operations (MISO) Planner from the United States Indo-Pacific Command
(USINDOPACOM), today delivered an online lecture via Zoom
on “Influence and Information Operations” to the 10th Command and
Staff Course, Royal Brunei Armed Forces. Mr. Serna provided an in-depth lesson on integrated MISO
concepts, plans and assessments, including the collection of tactical
information about an adversary, as well as the development and employment of a
suitable narrative in pursuit of a competitive advantage over an opponent. The lecture provided several rhetorical tools that can help to maximize
advantageous MISO effects. He also briefed the course on how to determine the
effectiveness of an argument, including the analysis of its intended effects to
best ensure effective communication through various approaches and techniques.

TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 04 June 2020 - Course participants of the Command and Staff Course (CSC) 10/2020 received a talk from Samantha binti Haji Mohd Ali, Executive Officer of Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), highlighting the roles and responsibilities of BEDB. Present during the session was Abdurahman bin Abdul Aziz, the Assistant Chief Executive Officer of BEDB. The sharing session also emphasised on how BEDB has helped formulate an action plan to assist local entrepreneurs during the current COVID19 pandemic.
