TANAH JAMBU, Friday, 09 September 2022 - The Opening Ceremony of the Intermediate Staff Course 22/2022 (ISC 22/2022) was held today at the Auditorium of the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF), Kampung Tanah Jambu. Present to officiate the opening ceremony was the Guest of Honour, Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof, Commandant of DA RBAF.
Also present at the ceremony were Deputy Commandant of DA RBAF, Defence Attaches/Advisors and Representative from Royal Brunei Police Force as well as Senior Officers of RBAF.
The opening ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and verses of Surah Al Nahl (Verse 76-79) led by the course participant, 1045 Captain Md Iqbal Arqam bin Haji Abd Rahman from the Royal Brunei Land Force. This was followed by an opening remark from the Guest of Honour.
In his remarks, he mentioned that ISC will give the participants the means to reach the next milestones of their military career both in the professional and personal areas. He urged the participants to challenge themselves, going beyond their perceived comfort zone in the face of the adversities that lies ahead. He also reiterated His Majesty's Titah on OCS Sovereign's Parade of Intake 17 that in its 10th Anniversary, DA RBAF will continue to strive for academic as well as military excellence by employing and practising the latest innovative and invigorating teaching techniques. ISC serves as the prime example of this continual application of highest levels of military and academic standards.
The ISC 22/2022 is a 14 weeks course conducted by the Leadership and Management Centre, DA RBAF. The course aims to prepare officers at intermediate to middle management level to become credible and competent Staff Officers in single service and joint environment. In addition, it also aims to develop and improve officers’ knowledge, communication skills, leadership and management, professionalism and teamwork. ISC is a mandatory course for RBAF Officers holding the rank of Captain/Lieutenant prior to being promoted to Major/Lieutenant Commander.
Total attendees for this year ISC 22/2022 are 45 participants, consisting of 18 officers from the Royal Brunei Land Force, 10 officers from the Royal Brunei Navy, 12 officers from the Royal Brunei Air Force, one officer from the Royal Brunei Police Force as well as 4 international military officers from the Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, Republic of Singapore and the Kingdom of Thailand.
