TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 10 January 2019 – The 9th series of the Command and Staff Course commenced today with an opening ceremony held at the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF). The event was officiated by Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the RBAF.
This year, the course is joined by military officers from Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, United States of America, and also South Korea who is participating for the first time. This course is also attended by an officer from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).
Present at the ceremony were the Services Commanders, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Directors, Commandants, Defence Advisers/Attachés to Brunei Darussalam, as well as officers and staff of the RBAF Defence Academy.
This year inaugurates Universiti Brunei Darussalam as the main academic provider for the Command and Staff Course replacing New Zealand’s Massey University which has worked together with the Staff College, Defence Academy for the last eight years. The 40-week course, delivered in partnership with UBD, aims to broaden officers’ perspectives and professional knowledge using tactical and academic approaches and disciplines to study the contemporary strategic environment and the implications of this environment on their practice as defence and security specialists.
