TANAH JAMBU, Friday, 18 October 2024 – The Intermediate Staff Course (ISC) 24/2024 have been given the honour to engage with the Commandant of the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF), Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof, where he shared his perspectives on leadership.
In his delivery, Commandant DA RBAF shared his reflections and perspectives on what leaders should embody to ensure organisational success. The Commandant’s insights focused on the three main components of leadership. Firstly, he emphasised the essence of self-leadership, which is having Akhlaq and good morals. Secondly, he highlighted the importance of competency; which encompasses the skills to communicate, solve problems, critical thinking, and innovation as means to achieve the mission or goal. The third and final point is in establishing the environment for the team that is conducive for growth and development. Overall, he highlighted that leadership is not only about the individual as a leader, rather the core of being a leader is to prioritise the individuals who are being led within the organisation.
He also emphasised the importance of practising introspection for fostering emotional intelligence and personal growth. He then concluded his talk by consolidating how all three essential domains of Self, Team and Organisation attain satisfaction and contribute to success.
