Monday, 24 July 2023 – The Command and Staff Course Delegation visited the Australian Department of Defence on the first day of the Overseas Study Tour. The delegation had round-table discussions with officers from the Strategic Policy Division and the International Policy Division, including the Head of Military Strategic Commitments Division, Air Vice Marshal Stephen Chappell, and the Assistant Secretary South-East Asia, Mr. David Lewis.
The delegation discussed a wide range of issues, including the geo-political and strategic policy challenges Australia faces, the evolving Australian policy planning process, and the continued importance of ASEAN for the region. These conversations are an important component of sustained conversations amongst the Indo-pacific nations and our global partners to build mutual understanding and stability in the region.
