KUALA LUMPUR, Friday, 26 April 2019 – The 9th Command & Staff Course (CSC9) Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) resumed the Overseas Study Tour (OST) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.The Head of Delegation, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Pg Mohammed Hasreen bin Pg Haji Ali Hassan, and the delegation of CSC participants attended a series of talks at the Luyang Room, Horizon Hotel delivered by senior military officers based in Sabah.
The programme began with a presentation on Task Force 450 delivered by Colonel Norulhisyam bin Md Shuib, the Chief of Staff of Task Force 450. The delegation had the opportunity to learn about Task Force 450 background, roles and tasks, their operations in Sabah and the challenges they are facing. The delegation also had the opportunity to learn about Task Force 450 future plans and aspirations under the command of the newly appointed Chief of Staff.
The delegation then received a briefing by Commander Fazli bin Abdullah @ Hassim, RMN, the Chief of Staff of Operations from the Royal Malaysian Navy Eastern Fleet Command. It covered topics on the Eastern Fleet’s history, its roles as well as the maritime security concers and challenges which are particularly faced in ensuring the state’s safety following the violent incidents in Lahad Datu back in 2013. Eastern Fleet Command is tasked to safeguard and provide maritime security to the extended east coast of Sabah from future incursions. The existence of Eastern Fleet Command has also contributed to the restoration of order and confidence among the local population and helps revitalise the economy of Sabah.
The presentations ended with Q&A session followed by the exchange of momentos between the Head of Delegation and both speakers. The Head of Delegation extended his gratitude for the talks delivered and as well as emphasised the need for further cooperation and friendly relations in the future. The delegation is scheduled to depart for Bandar Seri Begawan on Saturday, 27 April 2019.
