TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 1 November 2018 – Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of the Kingdom of Thailand arrived in Brunei Darussalam yesterday, leading a group of 35 fourth-year cadets from Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy of Thailand. Her Royal Highness consented to visit the Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) in Kampong Tanah Jambu today.Upon arrival at the Defence Academy, Her Royal Highness was received by the Commander of RBAF, Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud; Permanent Secretaries from the Ministry of Defence; Service Commanders; Deputy Permanent Secretaries and the Acting Commandant of Defence Academy RBAF.
Her Royal Highness was then presented with the royal salute at the royal dias, followed by an inspection of the Guard of Honour comprising of 107 personnel from the Royal Brunei Land Force led by Major Pg Haji Mohd Razif bin Pg Haji Idros. Her Royal Highness was also introduced to the RBAF Service Commanders, as well as, the civilian and military directors of the Ministry of Defence.
Soon after, Her Royal Highness was escorted to the Officer Cadet School and was received by the Acting Commandant of the Defence Academy RBAF, Lieutenant Colonel Hajah Suriyati binti Haji Junaidi. The Acting Commandant later delivered a briefing on the Defence Academy RBAF.
Her Royal Highness then consented to visit the accommodation quarters and facilities of the officer cadets. The officer cadets at the Defence Academy also had the honour to meet and mingle with Her Royal Highness. Soon after, Her Royal Highness viewed a demonstration at the officer cadets’ obstacle course before proceeding to the Ceremonial Hall.
At the Ceremonial Hall, Her Royal Highness signed a memorial plate and visiting parchment followed by the presentation of a ‘Pesambah’ and group photo before departing the Defence Academy RBAF.
At the conclusion of the study visit, Her Royal Highness was sent off at the Brunei International Airport by Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence.
