TANAH JAMBU, Friday, 30 August 2024 – The Opening Ceremony of the Intermediate Staff Course 24/2024 (ISC 24/2024) was held today at the Auditorium of the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF), Kampung Tanah Jambu.

Present to officiate the opening ceremony was the Guest of Honour, Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof, Commandant of DA RBAF. Also present at the opening ceremony were Defence Attachés and Defence Advisers, Senior Officers from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).

The opening ceremony began with the recitation of Surah AI-Fatihah and Surah Ali-‘Imran (Verses 190-195) led by course participant Captain Abdul Mu’iz Azizi bin Zulkifli from The RBAF Religious Directorate, Ministry of Defence.

The event then proceeded with an opening remark by the Guest of Honour where he highlighted that the ISC 24/2024 represents a crucial turning point in the participants’ career, shifting from junior roles to mid-level responsibilities. The commandant also stated that the course aims to challenge the course participants to develop fresh perspectives, tackle complex problems and enhance their critical thinking, communication and leadership skills, ultimately preparing them for their next appointments as prospective Majors/Lieutenant Commanders.

The ISC 24/2024 is a 14-week mandatory course for course participants ultimately preparing them to become credible and competent Staff Officers in single-service and joint environments. A total of 38 course participants attended the course comprising of 31 military officers from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, 01 officer from the Royal Brunei Police Force and 06 International military officers from People’s Republic of China, Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, Republic of Singapore, Thailand and Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
