TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 20 August 2026 – The Opening Ceremony for the Intermediate Staff Course 26/2026 (ISC 26/2026) was held at the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF), Kampung Tanah Jambu. Present as the Guest of Honour and to officiate the ceremony was Lieutenant Colonel Haji Mohammad Ghazali bin Haji Hussin, Acting Commandant of DA RBAF. Also in attendance were Defence Attaches and Advisors, as well as invited officers from the RBAF.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and selected verses from Surah Al-Hujurat (Verses 10–13) led by an ISC 26/2026 course participant, 1273 Captain (U) Muhammad Shah Redzuan bin Haji Mat Serudin,. The event proceeded with an opening remark by the Guest of Honour highlighting the importance of critical thinking in military leadership, coupled with the need for clear communication and adaptability in an increasingly complex security environment. He also emphasised how the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in our daily lives will challenge the ability and depth of critical thinking, thus the need to be self-aware in order to make sound and ethical decisions. ISC is designed to equip the intermediate level officers with the ability to assess complex situations across multiple dimensions, challenge assumptions and contribute significantly at the operational and subsequently strategic level.
A total of 50 officers will be attending this year’s ISC comprising of 27 officers from the Royal Brunei Land Forces, eight (08) officers from the Royal Brunei Navy, seven (07) officers from the Royal Brunei Air Force, one officer from the Royal Brunei Police Force as well as seven (07) International Officers from the Kingdom of Cambodia, the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, Republic of Philippines, the Kingdom of Thailand and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The ISC 26/2026 is a 14–week course conducted by the Leadership and Management Centre, DA RBAF. The course aims to develop capable and credible Staff Officers who can perform effectively in both single–service and joint operational environments.
MAJLIS PEMBUKAAN KURSUS STAF PERTENGAHAN 26/2026
TANAH JAMBU, Khamis, 20 Ogos 2026 – Majlis Pembukaan Kursus Staf Pertengahan (ISC) 26/2026 berlangsung di Auditorium Akademi Pertahanan Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (AP ABDB), Kampung Tanah Jambu. Hadir selaku Tetamu Kehormat bagi majlis tersebut ialah Leftenan Kolonel Haji Mohammad Ghazali bin Haji Hussin, Pemangku Komandan AP ABDB. Majlis tersebut juga dihadiri oleh beberapa Penasihat Pertahanan dan Atase Pertahanan, dan Pegawai–Pegawai daripada ABDB.
Majlis dimulakan dengan bacaan Surah Al-Fatihah dan ayat-ayat pilihan daripada Surah Al-Hujurat (Ayat 10–13) yang dibacakan oleh 1273 Kapten (U) Muhammad Shah Redzuan bin Haji Mat Serudin, peserta kursus ISC 26/2026. Majlis diteruskan dengan ucapan oleh Tetamu Kehormat yang menekankan kepentingan keupayan daya fikir secara kritis di dalam kepimpinan ketenteraan, serta kebolehan dalam komunikasi yang jelas serta kebolehsuaian di dalam persekitaran sekuriti yang semakin kompleks. Beliau juga mengetengahkan mengenai penggunaan Artificial Intelligence (AI) yang semakin berleluasa di dalam kehidupan seharian, yang mana akan memberi cabaran dalan keupayaan daya fikir. Oleh itu, adalah penting agar peserta kursus sentiasa peka mengenainya, dalam memastikan segala keputusan di dalam jurusan masing-masing adalah tepat dan beretika. Kursus ini dirangka untuk melengkapkan pegawai-pegawai di peringkat pertengahan dengan keupayaan dalam menilai situasi kompleks serta menyumbangkan kompetensi profesional di peringkat operasi dan seterusnya di peringkat strategik.
Seramai 50 pegawai menghadiri Kursus ISC 26/2026, yang mana terdiri daripada 27 pegawai Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei, 08 pegawai Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei, 07 pegawai Tentera Udara Diraja Brunei, 01 pegawai Pasukan Polis Diraja Brunei dan 07 pegawai antarabangsa daripada Kemboja, Republik Rakyat China, Republik Indonesia, Malaysia, Republik Filipina, Thailand dan Republik Sosialis Vietnam.
Kursus ini akan dikendalikan selama 14 minggu oleh Pusat Kepimpinan dan Pengurusan, AP ABDB, yang bertujuan untuk melengkapkan pegawai di peringkat pertengahan dengan pengetahuan dan kemahiran yang diperlukan bagi melahirkan Pegawai Staf yang berwibawa serta mampu melaksanakan tugas dengan berkesan dengan satu perkhidmatan dan operasi bersama.
