TANAH JAMBU, Wednesday, 13 March 2019 – The 9th Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Command and Staff Course (CSC9) hosted International Night at the Ceremonial Hall of the RBAF Defence Academy last night. The event was an informal social function aimed at showcasing the cultures of the 13 nationalities represented at CSC9. At the helm of the event this year was 634 Major Pengiran Hamzah bin Pengiran Hj Ahmad Damit from Royal Brunei Land Force.
The CSC9 International Night was honoured to have the Commander of RBAF, Yang Mulia Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud as the Guest-of-Honour. Other distinguished guest present were the Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Mohd Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam, Services Commanders, High Commissioners, Ambassadors, representatives from Foreign Missions in Brunei Darussalam, Defence Advisers and Defence Attachés in Brunei Darussalam, senior RBAF officers and family members of the course participants.
The programme of the night was lively and involved a sumptuous international buffet spread and a modest cultural show. As part of the cultural show, the Filipino and Bruneian students performed the song “Anak” in both Bahasa Melayu and Tagalog. After that, the New Zealand student led the course in spirit Hakka performance. Finally, to round up the evening, all students of CSC9 perform “We are the World”.
CSC9 is a 40-week course delivered by the RBAF Defence Academy in partnership with the University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD). Its aims are to help mid-level military officers prepare for high appointments by broadening their professional and academic knowledge, as well as develop their command, analytical and communication skills.
There are a total of 30 officers attending CSC9, of which include 16 officers are from RBAF, one is from RBPF, and 13 officers are from international militaries. The international militaries represented are People’s Republic of Bangladesh, People’s Republic of China, Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Sultanate of Oman, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of the Philippines, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Republic of Singapore, Republic of South Korea, Kingdom of Thailand and United States of America.
