TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 10 October 2024 – The 14th Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Command and Staff Course (CSC) concluded today with a Closing Ceremony attended by key dignitaries, including The Honourable Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II as the Guest of Honour. The CSC, which involved a total of 37 course participants, aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of defence and security through a blend of academic and operational planning modules. The guest of honour highlighted the importance of defence diplomacy in today’s complex global landscape and stressed the role of education in nurturing future leaders equipped with critical thinking and decision-making skills.
During the ceremony, four awards were presented, including the Overall Excellence Award and Academic Excellence Award to Major Cai Chengyi from Singapore, and the RBAF Commendation Award to Lieutenant Commander Muhamad Adib Izzuddin bin Haji Ramli, RBN, while the Commandant’s Award, was won by Mohammad Hazwan bin Mohammad Azani from Defence Academy RBAF. The CSC, conducted in partnership with Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), awarded graduates the post-nominal “psc (j)” and a Graduate Diploma in Defence and Security Studies, with the option to pursue a master’s degree. The 14th RBAF CSC graduates comprised officers from the RBAF, Royal Brunei Police Force, Internal Security Department, Ministry of Defence as well as 18 international military officers from the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Cambodia, the Republic of Indonesia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Sultanate of Oman, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of the Philippines, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Singapore, the Kingdom of Thailand, United Kingdom and United States of America, which reflect the course’s international scope, and focus on strategic defence issues.
