TANAH JAMBU, Monday 20 May 2019 – Pengiran Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Managing Director of Brunei Shell Marketing, today delivered a talk on “Business Planning and Strategic Management” to the 9th Command and Staff Course (CSC9) at the Defence Academy of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.In his talk, Pengiran Shamhary shared the background and history of Brunei Shell Marketing (BSM), business overview, business strategy and the challenges that BSM are facing. He also presented the BSM’s component of organisation model to demonstrate the company’s strategic management, processes and tools. He highlighted the importance and roles of Decision Review Board in providing the strategic guidance for the overall conduct of the company’s business plan.
The Command and Staff College has always aspired to deliver high-quality education by inviting guest lecturers who are subject matter experts in their respective fields. The lecture has added value by bringing the students towards a deeper and broader understanding of the subject particularly its relevancy and contribution to the current CSC9 module of Defence Policy and Strategic Programming (DPSP). The session was concluded with a memento presentation to the guest lecturer by the Directing Staff 2, Lieutenant Colonel Shahromey bin Bakri.
Pengiran Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha is an experienced managing director with a demonstrated history of working in the oil and energy industry. He started his career as Senior Environmental Adviser in the Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) in 2004. He held various appointment while serving in the BSP and his last assignment in the BSP was as Business Improvement Manager before being promoted as BSM’s Managing Director in October 2013. Business planning, Change management, Continuous Improvement, Health Security Safety Environment and energy industry are a few of his excellent skills and expertise.
