TANAH JAMBU, Monday, 30 September 2024 – The 14th Command and Staff Course (CSC 14/2024) at the Defence Academy RBAF had the privilege to host Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces for a special Senior Leadership Dialogue session. The session titled, “Strategic Leadership and Decision-Making in Complex Environments” highlighted the importance of values-driven leadership and how core values play a crucial role in making effective decisions in challenging situations. He shared personal experiences and strategic insights, inspiring the cohort to adopt a mindset focused on long-term growth and resilience to be better prepared for the future.
A significant focus of the discussion was the intersection of leadership and emerging technologies, with an emphasis on preparing for the future while learning from history to avoid past mistakes. The Commander stressed the importance of instilling values in the younger generation to build a strong foundation for future leaders. He also emphasised the need for collaboration with national and international partners to counter contemporary threats.
Additionally, the Commander highlighted the critical role of having a skilled and reliable team to provide accurate information for decision-making. He shared key insights from his recent participation in the Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defense (CHODS) conference, underscoring the importance of international cooperation. The session equipped the participants with essential tools for leadership in complex environments and empowered them to navigate future challenges with confidence.
