TAMAN WARISAN TASEK MERIMBUN, Wednesday, 4 December 2019 – The Commander’s Challenge is the pinnacle of every Officer Cadets’ ultimate test on effective leadership and physical endurance through a 42.7 kilometer course of tasks and obstacles. The Officer Cadets of Intake 18 flag off first thing in the morning on the 4th December 2019 at Empangan Jubli Emas Ulu Tutong.
The objective of the challenge is to complete the given tasks throughout the course under the restriction of time and given control measures. The significance of this challenge is that officer cadets were tested on their overall knowledge of skills, command and control which was taught throughout their training at Officer Cadet School.
The Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Yang Mulia Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud was present as the Guest of Honour and presented the Commander’s Challenge Trophy to 3 Platoon, 2 Section as the winning section with a total time of 10 hours and 52 minutes at the Taman Warisan Tasek Merimbun.
The main takeaway from this challenge is the value of teamwork and how important it is in the military to work together in order to achieve a given mission. The constraint of time teaches the Officer Cadets of Intake 18 to be precise in time management as the military demands precision of its timings.
