CSC9 RESUMES OST IN KUALA LUMPUR

KUALA LUMPUR, Wednesday, 24 April 2019 – The 9th Command & Staff Course (CSC9) Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) resumed further visits to military, government and non-profit research organisations on their third day of the Overseas Study Tour (OST) in Malaysia.
 
The Head of Delegation, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Pg Mohammed Hasreen bin Pg Haji Ali Hassan, and the delegation of CSC participants began their day with a visit to the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MAFSC) at Haigate, Kuala Lumpur. Following a courtesy call to Brigadier General Dato’ Mohd Sofi bin Md Lepi, the Commandant of MAFSC, the delegation was briefly introduced to the organisation as well as the courses conducted at the MAFSC. The CSC students were able to see the facilities around the learning institution as well as discuss how the Malaysian Staff Course is conducted.
 
The delegation continued their tour with a visit to the Malaysian Armed Forces Headquarters (MAFHQ) where they were briefed on the overview of the Malaysian Higher Defense organisation, structure and operations by Lieutenant Colonel Jamaluddin bin Ahmad Tajuddin from the MAFHQ Planning and Development Division.
 
A representative from the Malaysian Institute of Defense and Security Organisation (MiDAS) also delivered a presentation on the overview of the MiDAS from its background since 2010, roles, tasks, structure to its cooperation with and contribution to the Malaysian Armed Forces.
 
Later in the afternoon, the delegation visited the prestigious office of the Institute of Strategy and International Studies (ISIS). The delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Chief Executive of ISIS, Dato’ Steven CM Wong. The CSC9 staff visit also coincided with a visit to ISIS by the Lebanon Armed Forces Staff Course. This opportunity provided additional perspectives to the discussion points with a wide range of security, intelligence and policy issues openly debated. The insights provided by a team of highly capable analysts and research staff reflected the stewardship of comprehensive portfolios currently undertaken by ISIS. 
 
The day ended with a visit to the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suruhanjaya Hak Asasi Manusia Malaysia, SUHAKAM). Course participants are provided with the opportunity and the first-hand experience of the establishment of Human Rights in Malaysia. The series of presentations was lead by Dr. Cheah Swee Neo, the Secretary of SUHAKAM. The briefings comprised of the purpose and roles of SUHAKAM as a Human Rights agency in Malaysia and the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) which focuses on the improvement human right situation.
 
At the end of every visit, the exchange of momentos between the Head of Delegation and the representative of visited organisation took place. The Head of Delegation extended his gratitude for conduct of the visits and as well as emphasised the need for further cooperation and friendly relations in the future.
