DEFENCE ACADEMY, Sunday, 31 May 2020 – Today marks a special day for Ministry of Defence and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. Held at the Ceremonial Hall, Defence Academy. The Deputy Commandant of Defence Academy, Lieutenant Colonel Dayang Hajah Suriyati binti Haji Junaidi, this morning attended a thanksgiving ceremony as the Guest of Honour to commemorate the 59th Anniversary of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.The religious ceremony commenced with a recital of the Saydul Istighfar by Seargant Haji Yusry bin Awang Haji Yusoff from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Religious Department. This was followed by glorifying the event with a mass reading of the Surah Yassin and Tahlil for the late parents of His Majesty the Sultan Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam – Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman.
Lastly followed by Doa Kseyukuran and Doa Agar Terhindar dari segala Bala dan Wabak Penyakit. Also present at the ceremony were senior officers, officers, personnel of Defence Academy and civilian.
In support of the government’s effort to curb the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, the grand celebration will not be held this year.
The theme for the RBAF 59th anniversary is ‘Bersama Menjayakan Wawasan Negara’.
