TANAH JAMBU, Monday, 10 August 2020 – Mr. Tony Serna, the Military Information Support Operations (MISO) Planner from the United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), today delivered
an online lecture via Zoom on “Influence and Information Operations” to the 10th Command and Staff Course, Royal Brunei Armed Forces. Mr.
Serna provided an in-depth lesson on integrated MISO concepts, plans and assessments, including the collection of tactical information about an adversary, as well as the development and employment of a suitable narrative in pursuit of a competitive advantage over an opponent. The lecture provided several rhetorical tools that can help to maximize advantageous MISO effects. He also briefed the course on how to determine the effectiveness of an argument, including the analysis of its intended effects to best ensure effective communication through various approaches and techniques.
