Friday, 21 July 2023 – 41 officers from the Defence Academy, RBAF departed to Australia for an eight-day Overseas Study Tour from 24 July to 31 July 2023. The head of delegation is Lieutenant Colonel (U) Azmie Iskandar bin Ariffin, Deputy Commandant Defence Academy, RBAF, and the delegation includes the course participants from RBAF Command and Staff College 13/2023. Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof, Commandant Defence Academy, RBAF was also present to send off the delegation.
The tour presents the delegation with valuable opportunities to better appreciate Australia’s unique strategic situation throughout the study tour. They will engage with their Australian counterparts from the Australian Command and Staff Course. They will also visit the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, the Australian Department of Defense, and the Australian Department Foreign Affairs and Trade to discuss current policy issues. Finally, they will visit a Royal Australian Navy base to gain insights into the unique challenges the Australian Defense Force face protecting their island continent.
