THE COMMAND AND GENERAL STAFF COURSE CLASS 74, COMMAND AND GENERAL STAFF, ARMED FORCES OF THE PHILIPPINES EDUCATION, TRAINING AND DOCTRINE COMMAND VISIT TO THE DEFENCE ACADEMY ROYAL BRUNEI ARMED FORCES

TANAH JAMBU, Monday, 13 May 2024 – The Command and General Staff (CGS) Course Class 74, CGS, Armed Forces of the Philippines Education, Training and Doctrine Command (AFPETDC) paid a visit to the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF) as part of their study tour in Brunei Darussalam. The delegation consisted of 1 Directing Staff, 2 Supporting Staff, and 53 Course Participants, led by Colonel Ronald Albert P. Genete PA (GSC), the Director of the AFP Leadership Development Center at the AFPETDC as the Head of Delegation. The CGS Course Class 74 was welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel Amirul Adly bin Hj Ali, the Deputy Commandant of DA RBAF. 

The visit began with comprehensive presentations and insights on the emerging cyber security threats in Southeast Asia; the Defence White Paper 2021; and the structure of education, training and courses from representatives from the Directorate of Intelligence, Defence Policy and DA RBAF respectively before engaging in a stimulating question-and-answer session. The objective of the briefs was to share knowledge and information on the strategic outlook and policies of the Ministry of Defence and the RBAF as well as the organisational structure of DA RBAF.

Following the briefs, Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yussof, Commandant of DA RBAF, received a courtesy call from Colonel Ronald Albert P. Genete PA (GSC). Also in attendance were the Deputy Commandant of DA RBAF, Chief Instructor of DA RBAF and Acting Head of Leadership and Management Centre of DA RBAF. During the call, the Commandant of DA RBAF welcomed Colonel Ronald Albert P. Genete PA (GSC) to Brunei Darussalam and expressed his appreciation for their visit and support to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between the two institutions.

The visit at DA RBAF concluded with a luncheon and interaction with the Commandant of DA RBAF, Command and Staff Course 14/2024 Directing Staff and Course Participants as well as officers and staff from DA RBAF. Hosted by DA RBAF, the delegation is in Brunei Darussalam for a five-day visit as part of their foreign academic travel, and the itinerary will comprise of visits to the units within the RBAF as well as cultural tours around Brunei Darussalam.
