TANAH JAMBU, Friday, 15 November 2024 – A closing ceremony was held for the Pilot Workshop for Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Senior Warrant Officer Course today held at the Ceremonial Hall, Defence Academy RBAF. This ceremony marks the end of the third and final session of the workshop which was held from 11 November 2024 to 15 November 2024.
The Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof, Commandant of Defence Academy RBAF. Also in presence were senior officers from Defence Academy Headquarters, officers from Training Institute RBAF and the Leadership and Management Centre, as well as the Armed Forces Sergeant Major and Services Sergeant Majors.
The workshop has introduced the five core themes in the RBAF Professional Military Education (PME) which are Foundation Skills; Strategy, Policy and Doctrine; Command, Leadership and Management; Military Capabilities, and Joint Warfare. The final session covered the understanding of the concept of joint operations, capabilities of RBAF services and their contributions to joint operations as well as the application of war theories in the planning and execution of joint operations.
This pilot workshop serves as a groundwork for designing and implementing the Senior Warrant Officer Course (SWOC) that will be initiated in 2025, with the goal of preparing selected warrant officers for senior appointments by advancing their leadership skills, professional knowledge and intellectual capacity. The course signifies a pivotal step for RBAF in recognising of the growing importance of structured professional military education for non-commissioned officers to ensure that personnel at all levels are well-prepared to navigate and respond effectively to future challenges.
