TANAH JAMBU, DEFENCE ACADEMY, Wednesday 29 December 2021 –
The Acting Commandant of the Defence Academy RBAF, Lieutenant Colonel
(U) Azmie Iskandar bin Ariffin visited Officer Cadet School (OCS),
Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces today as the Guest of Honor to
carry out a sharing session with the Officer Cadets of Intake 20. In attendance were the Commanding Officer of OCS, Second-In Command of OCS, and the Intake Commander Intake 20.
The
session as a whole was full of advice for the life after commissioning
from OCS, giving the Officer Cadets an opportunity to ready themselves.
There were a few emphases from there, namely: professionalism,
discipline, respect, self-reflection, consultation, providing guidance,
the importance of being appreciative, listening and making friends.
To
be professional is to be productive and to be able to manage time
wisely. Maintaining high discipline can be achieved by strengthening and
increasing faith, as the Guest of Honor has said, and this will in turn
help ease the Officer Cadets to self-reflect, which is vital in order
to improve oneself. He also highlighted the importance of always
discussing matters with your peers and leaders, to always provide
guidance when commanding, to be more appreciative of the work of your
subordinates and to listen to people especially those with more
experience. For each point, the Guest of Honor reminded how they are not
only to be applied in the working environment, but in everyday personal
lives too.
Lastly,
the Guest of Honor ended the session with a warm message congratulating
the Officer Cadets of Intake 20 upon completing their one-year training
and to wish them luck in their future endeavor in their RBAF military
career
