UNIVERSITI BRUNEI DARUSSALAM, Tuesday, 07 February 2023 - The CSC students have completed their 4-week Foundation Studies module and now continue to embark on their academic journey. This Foundation Studies module is designed to equip students with the essential skills required to succeed in their academic pursuits. Reflective practise, academic writing, sense making, critical thinking, and research methods – are amongst the tools at the student’s disposal in facing their assignments. Reflective practice encourages students to evaluate their own experiences and learning, helping them to identify areas for improvement and become more self-aware. Whereas academic writing teaches students how to write with clarity and precision, and to effectively structure and present their ideas. Moreover, critical thinking develops the ability to evaluate information and arguments, and to think independently. Together, these skills are essential for academic success, and form part of the student’s professional development in their careers.
In general, the course pays particular attention towards developing skills such as reflective practise and critical thinking to develop the student’s capacity to think beyond the superficial. A key message constantly accentuated to the students to dig deeper and try to understand complex information and concepts, and to make connections between different ideas.
