THE OPENING CEREMONY OF 13TH COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE

TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 12 January 2023 – The opening ceremony of the Command and Staff Course (CSC) 13/2023 took place today at the Auditorium of the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF). Present as the Guest of Honour to officiate the opening ceremony was Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF). 

Also present at the ceremony were Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle, Vice Chancellor of University Brunei Darussalam (UBD), RBAF Service Commanders, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Senior Officers as well as the Defence Advisers/Attachés and representatives from the High Commission/ Embassy to Brunei Darussalam.  

The ceremony began with the recitation of Al-Quran followed by the opening remarks and official opening of the course by the Guest of Honour. In his speech, he hoped the participants will strive for excellence and embrace the course with an open mind and a positive attitude, while also enjoying the social networking and friendship throughout the 10 months of CSC. The RBAF Commander then highlighted the inaugural participation from the Kingdom of Jordan, and RBAF’s plan to invite more partner militaries to take part in the course. 

The ceremony continued with the flag unfurling which symbolises excellent cooperation between countries taking part in the course and emphasised the importance for Staff College students to forge strong friendships throughout their learning journey.

A total of 35 officers are attending the course this year including 18 officers from the RBAF, one officer from the Royal Brunei Police Force and other 16 international military officers from 14 countries; Australia, Bangladesh, Republic of India, Republic of Indonesia, the Kingdom of Jordan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Sultanate of Oman, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of the Philippines, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Republic of Singapore, the Kingdom of Thailand and United State of America.
