Tanah Jambu, Tuesday, 17 March 2025 – In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijrah, the Commandant of the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF) hosted a Surah Yaasin and Tahlil recitation and an Iftar gathering with former Commandants and Academy Sergeant Majors at Surau Asy-Syuhada, DA RBAF.
Among those in attendance was Yang Mulia Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. Also present was Yang Mulia First Warrant Officer Rozain bin Haji Pungut, Armed Forces Sergeant Major. The gathering brought together senior officers and officers of the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces, international officers from Command and Staff Course Series 16/2026, as well as Officer Cadets from Intake 25.
The event commenced with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar, Surah Yaasin and Tahlil, followed by Doa and Zikir led by Yang Mulia Corporal Almi Sharani bin Haji Alius from the RBAF Religious Directorate. The programme proceeded with the Iftar, Maghrib prayers in congregation and dinner at the Ceremonial Hall, DA RBAF. The event concluded with the presentation of commemorative mementos, including the 15th Anniversary Commemorative Coin of the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces, to former Commandants and Academy Sergeant Majors as a token of appreciation for their distinguished service and invaluable contributions during their tenure.
Held annually during the blessed month of Ramadan, the event serves as a meaningful platform to strengthen camaraderie, foster esprit de corps, and reinforce enduring ties between former Commandants, Academy Sergeant Majors, and the officers and personnel of DA RBAF.
