BRUNEI DARUSSALAM, Friday, 12 June 2026 – The Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF) had the honour of hosting a 35-member delegation from the Air Force War College (AFWC) of Nigeria, led by Air Vice Marshal Gambo Adamu Mbaka, Commandant of AFWC, from 8 to 12 June 2026, as part of the College’s international study tour programme held under the theme “Emerging Technologies in National Security.”
As part of the visit, the Head of Delegation paid a Courtesy Call on Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohammad Sharif bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, Deputy Commander of the RBAF. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on contemporary security challenges, defence cooperation and military-to-military engagement between Brunei Darussalam and Nigeria.
At DA RBAF, the delegation was welcomed by Colonel (U) Azmie Iskandar bin Ariffin, Commandant of DA RBAF, where both sides reaffirmed the importance of defence diplomacy in strengthening mutual understanding and promoting the exchange of knowledge, experiences and perspectives between both armed forces.
In line with the study tour theme, the delegation was briefed on the organisational structure of the Ministry of Defence and the RBAF, key aspects of the Defence White Paper Update 2026, regional security developments, and the RBAF’s approach to joint, interagency and multinational operations.
The session also provided a valuable platform for participants to gain insights into Brunei Darussalam’s use of emerging technologies, national priorities and whole-of-government approach to strengthening security and resilience, while identifying lessons and best practices applicable to their own national security context.
As part of the programme, the delegation also visited several key establishments, including the RBAF Museum, Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS), Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja and the Royal Regalia Museum.
The visit further strengthened mutual understanding, professional development and defence cooperation between both institutions.
