TANAH JAMBU, Tuesday, 16 June 2026 - Brunei
Darussalam ushered the Islamic new year of 1448 Hijrah with Ilal Hijrah celebration at mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide. The Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF) also held the event simultaneously at Surau Asy-Syuhada, Tanah Jambu.
Present to the graced the event was Major Mahmud Afifi Mohammad Kifli, Deputy Chief Instructor of DA RBAF. Also present were DA RBAF officers, staffs of DA RBAF and course participants from the Command and Staff Course 16/2026, Junior Officer Development Course 02/2026 and officer cadets of intake 25.
The event commenced with the recitation of Doa Akhir Tahun 1447 Hijrah and proceeded with Maghrib prayer and the recitation of Doa Awal Tahun 1448 Hijrah by Sergeant Abdul Baar bin Sijun from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Religious Directorate (JAMA’AT). The celebration was further enlivened with Sunnat Hajat prayer and the recitation of Surah Yassin.
The theme for 1448 Hijrah is “Hijrah Penyelamat Aqidah’”, whereby all Muslims to commemorate the journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from Makkah Al-Mukarramah to Madinah Al-Munawwarah, a landmark event in Islamic history that exemplifies sacrifice, resilience and the pursuit of a better future.
