MAIN PLANNING CONFERENCE FOR THE FIRST SOUTHEAST ASIA CONFERENCE OF COMMANDANTS


TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 17 November 2022 – The Main Planning Conference (MPC) for the first Southeast Asia Conference of Commandants (1st SEA CoC) was held today at the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Force Headquarter (DA RBAF HQ).


Prior to the meeting, Commandant Defence Academy received a courtesy call from Air Commodore Hamish Cormack, MA CBE, Deputy Commandant of the United Kingdom (UK) Defence Academy, Shrivenham. The meeting was Co-Chaired by Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof, Commandant of DA RAF, and Air Commodore Hamish Cormack, MA CBE, Deputy Commandant of the United Kingdom (UK) Defence Academy, Shrivenham, in their capacities as the co-hosts of the inaugural Southeast Asia Conference of Commandants.


The MPC started with welcoming remarks by the Commandant of DA RBAF to the Deputy Commandant of the United Kingdom (UK) Defence Academy. Among the agenda being discussed during the meeting includes the proposed aim of conference, program, and terms of understanding. During the meeting, all participants reaffirmed their full support and continuous commitment towards the realisation of the 1st SEA CoC, which will be held tentatively in March 2023 in Brunei Darussalam.


After the meeting, the delegation had the opportunity to conduct site visits on venues for the upcoming SEA CoC. The delegation later on were invited to an afternoon tea session where Air Commodore Hamish Cormack, MA CBE, Deputy Commandant of the United Kingdom were introduced to 7 (seven) British Loan Service personnel comprising of three (03) Officers and four (04) Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCO) currently serving with DA RBAF.
