DEFENCE ACADEMY RBAF PARTICIPATES IN THE 22ND IISS SHANGRI-LA DIALOGUE 2025 YOUNG LEADERS’ PROGRAMME

SINGAPORE, 30 May 2025 – The Defence Academy of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF) participated in the prestigious Young Leaders’ Programme held in conjunction with the 22nd International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue 2025 (@iissorg), from 30 May to 1 June 2025. Representing Brunei Darussalam was Mohammad Hazwan bin Mohammad Azani, Senior Academic Adviser at DA RBAF, who joined emerging leaders from around the world to exchange perspectives on regional security and defence cooperation.

The IISS Shangri-La Dialogue is the Asia-Pacific’s premier defence summit, bringing together defence ministers, military chiefs, and security experts from across the globe to address key regional security challenges and policy responses. A key component of the Dialogue, the Young Leaders’ Programme convenes rising strategic thinkers from Southeast Asia and beyond to engage in high-level discussions on current and emerging security issues.

DA RBAF’s participation in this programme reflects its commitment to enhancing defence diplomacy, developing strategic leadership, and strengthening international engagement. The platform also provided valuable opportunities to share best practices in defence education and strategic affairs, while fostering collaboration and mutual understanding with global partners in support of regional stability and peace.
