TANAH JAMBU, Saturday, 07 January 2023 – Officer Cadet School Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (OCS DA RBAF) held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony this afternoon at Surau Asy-Syuhada at DA RBAF in conjunction with Intake 21 Sovereign’s Parade.
Present as the guest of honour was Colonel Pg Sharifuddin bin Pg Hj Yusof, Commandant of DA RBAF. Also present during the ceremony were senior officers, sergeant majors, staff of OCS DA RBAF as well as the Officer Cadets of Intake 21.
The Khatam Al-Quran ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by Khatam Al-Quran recitation, Takhtim, Do’a Khatam Al-Quran, Dikir Marhaban and Do’a Peliharakan Sultan which was led by Officer Cadets of Intake 21.
The recitation and study of Al-Quran is an important component of the OCS curriculum, which is in line with the National Philosophy of Melayu Islam Beraja and Takwa¸ one of the core values of the RBAF, referring to piety and adherence to Islamic teachings. The understanding of lessons and teachings in the Quran helps in shaping RBAF officers to embody and practice Islamic leadership values such as Amanah (integrity) and Adil (just). Quranic studies will also help to enhance the officers’ purpose in carrying out their roles and responsibilities, as it serves as goodwill for the organization, national security and investment for the hereafter.
The ceremony then concluded with a mass Asr prayer, doa and a group photo session.
