COMMENCEMENT OF THE SENIOR WARRANT OFFICER COURSE PILOT WORKSHOP SESSION 1: FOUNDATION SKILLS, AND COMMAND, LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

TANAH JAMBU, Monday, 29 July 2024 – The Leadership and Management Centre (LMC) today commenced the first session of the Senior Warrant Officer Course (SWOC) Pilot Workshops which is jointly facilitated and conducted by the Defence Academy RBAF and Training Institute RBAF.

The opening remarks was delivered by Maj Mahmud Afifi Mohd Kifli, Acting Head of LMC, highlighting the need and the importance of the SWOC in contributing to the effectiveness of the RBAF to meet future challenges and to leverage on the intellectual capital of Senior Warrant Officers. This was followed by remarks from WO1 Rosleen Bin Haji Tujoh, Armed Forces Sergeant Major, reinforcing the need for a change of mindset towards enhancing the intellectual capacities of Senior Warrant Officers for the betterment of the RBAF as a whole.

The SWOC Pilot Workshops is attended by 13 selected Sergeant Majors from various units in the RBAF. The SWOC will be attended by Sergeant Major candidates prior to assuming their new executive roles. The course will consist of the full suite of the Core Themes of the RBAF Professional Military Education framework thereby upskilling the intellectual capacities of Warrant Officers in executive appointments which will further build the Officer-Warrant Officer partnership by achieving greater intellectual parity between Officers and Warrant Officers.

The SWOC Pilot Workshops is divided into three separate 1-week sessions. The first session will be focused on Foundation Skills, and Command, Leadership and Management modules and will run from 29 July to 2 August 2024. The second session will focus on the Policy, Strategy and Doctrine module, and the third session will focus on Military Capability and Joint Warfare modules both of which will be conducted in September and October 2024 respectively.
